Competition rules

Last updated: 3 October 2026
These general rules apply to every Takkato competition. Each competition also has its own official rules in the app, with its dates, country, entry requirements and prizes. If the two differ, that competition's official rules apply.

Sponsor

Takkato competitions are run and sponsored by Appcorn Technologies, the maker of Takkato. Apple Inc. and Google LLC are not sponsors of any Takkato competition and are not involved with them in any way.

Who can enter

  • Takkato members who live in the competition's country.
  • You must meet every requirement on the competition's "Can you enter?" screen when you enter. These can include a minimum number of published recipes, recent activity, a chef level, account age, and no recent rule violations.
  • If you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission to enter and to receive a prize.
  • You can enter each competition once.

Entering

  • Before entering, you accept the competition's official rules and confirm that you cooked the dish yourself and took every photo and video in Takkato.
  • Your entry must be a new recipe, made for the competition. Every photo and video, including step photos, must be taken with the Takkato competition camera during the competition. The gallery can't be used.
  • Your device's date and time must be set automatically.
  • Every entry is reviewed by our team before it goes live, usually within 12 hours. We may reject an entry, with a reason. You can fix and resubmit a rejected entry until entries close.
  • Once submitted, you can't edit your entry. You can withdraw it before entries close, but withdrawing is final: its votes are removed and you can't enter that competition again. The recipe stays on your profile.

Voting

  • To vote, you must be signed in and have at least one published recipe.
  • You have one vote per competition, and it's final. You can't vote for your own entry.
  • Members from any country can vote.
  • If the entry you voted for is withdrawn or removed, your vote is returned and you can vote again.
  • Votes that look automated, bought, or coordinated (for example many new accounts voting together) are cancelled, and the accounts involved may be suspended. An entry that benefits from fraud may be disqualified.
  • Likes, comments, saves and shares don't count toward the result.

How winners are chosen

  • Entries are ranked by the number of valid votes.
  • If two entries have the same number of votes, the one that reached that number first ranks higher.
  • After voting ends, we review the votes and confirm the results, normally within 48 hours. Results are shown in the app.
  • The winner gets the Champion award, and finalists get the Finalist award on their profiles.

Prizes

  • Prizes for each place are listed on the competition page.
  • Prizes are bought in the competition's country and delivered to the winner's address in that country.
  • Winners are notified in the app and must give their delivery details there. If a winner doesn't respond within 30 days, we may cancel the prize.
  • Prizes can't be exchanged for cash or transferred. If a prize isn't available, we may replace it with one of similar value.
  • Winners are responsible for any taxes or fees that apply to them.

Your data

Winners' delivery details are used only to deliver the prize and are deleted 90 days after delivery. See our privacy policy.

Our decisions

We may disqualify entries or cancel votes that break these rules, the official rules or our terms. If something outside our control (such as fraud or a technical failure) affects a competition, we may extend, pause or cancel it, and we'll explain why in the app. Questions or complaints: support@takkato.app.
